5 tips for feeling empowered

With summer coming up, we know it can be hard for a lot of girls to go out comfortably in bikins.

We think that everyone around us is judging and that society’s standards don’t include us.

We are wrong.

You deserve to be seen, heard and feel empowered in your skin.

We understand how damaging it is in this world - we are constantly being exposed to messages and images that are telling us we don’t meet the current “beauty standards”. But what is a beauty standard if it’s always changing? We love our Lahana angels and everything they are.

 It’s good to be reminded of this love. Because as much as we don’t always feel it, you are perfect the way you are.

Our body doesn’t hate us, it helps us. Without our body we wouldn’t survive. We need our heart, lungs, brain and all other organs to keep us from shutting down. We need to be more kind to our bodies, because we are only given one. And they are working so hard to allow you to live your best life.

LA did a Real Body shoot with some local LA customers and community. Our local girl-gang travelled early for a 5:30 am start to stand together in power and solidarity under the rising sun.

LA Real Body campaign is to show how powerful women are, exactly as you are. All our girls portrayed Lahana’s values. We couldn't be more grateful for the girls to turn up, turn it on and be a representation of confidence and embodiment.

5 TIPS UNLOCKED

1. Talk to yourself like you would to your bestie

Hurtful words are the quickest way to destroy a relationship. Everytime you say something hurtful to your body you destroy that relationship too. I know you would never criticise your bff, then why yourself? Compliment your hair, the way your breakfast tasted or how well you did at work today. Tell yourself “I love you” because your body loves you too.

2. Dance like no one's watching - because no one is

Moving your body is amazing for both mental and physical health, and dancing is even better. When you move you feel comfortable in your body as you gain an understanding of the different ways your body bends and stretches. Angels, put on your favourite song and pour that glass of wine and have a dance party in your kitchen.

3. Write a list of all the amazing things about yourself

Journalling is an incredible way of the mind.You release what you’ve been bottling up all day or you can write goals and ambitions. When we write something down on paper our brain’s have a greater chance to remember it. So, if you write down “I feel powerful in my bikini” your brain will remember that everytime you wear that bikini!



4. Indulge in a pair of LA bikinis.

Bikinis show off every bit of our body and there is nothing wrong with that. Everyones’ body is worthy of being out in the world, and why not do it in our brand. Lahana has perfected the cuts and colours to make you feel womanly and fierce. Our LA tribe is a community, so why not join?

5. Accept that you’re going to have hard days - everyone does

The mindset of your body constantly changes day to day, hour to hour. No one is ever going to be satisfied with the way they look so we can only offer tips to help us when we don’t feel great. And it is okay to not feel great. Sometimes you need those days to lie in bed with a big bowl of pasta, and that’s okay too. We are given one body and how we use it is up to us.
